Four-Year Graduation Rate

A student is considered a four-year graduate if they receive an OSSD within four years of starting Grade 9.

As of August 31, 2022, 83.9 per cent of students who started grade 9 in the 2017-2018 academic year graduated within four years.

As of August 31st, 2022, 84.9 per cent of students who began grade 9 in the 2018-2019 academic year graduated within four years, and 89.1 per cent of students who began grade 9 in the 2017-2018 academic year graduated within five years. The four-year and five-year graduation rate is calculated as the percentage of students who receive an OSSD within four or five years of starting Grade 9. Students who have transferred out of province, or died, are not included in calculating the graduation rate.

For students to earn an OSSD, they must:

  • earn a minimum of 30 credits, including 18 compulsory credits and 12 optional credits
  • meet the provincial secondary school literacy requirement
  • earn at least two online learning credits, and
  • complete 40 hours of community involvement activities.
